Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans offer all the benefits of Original Medicare (Part A and Part B)–plus extras like vision, dental, hearing and prescription drug coverage—all in one plan. And many Medicare Advantage plans have $0 monthly premiums. *
Health maintenance organization (HMO) plans
HMO plans may sometimes offer lower premiums than other plans, but you must usually stay within your plan’s network for care and services.
Preferred provider organization (PPO) plans
PPO may allow you to go out-of-network for care, but you will usually pay less if you stay within the plan’s network.
Private fee-for-service (PFFS) plans
are offered through private insurance companies. You will pay health care providers directly for services based on an amount that your plan determines.
Special needs plans (SNPs)*
- Plans are limited to people with specific conditions. These plans are tailored to meet the specific needs of members within the plan.
- Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) are Medicare Advantage plans designed for people with both Medicare and Medicaid. D-SNPs always include prescription drug coverage and many extra benefits beyond Original Medicare.
